WRITE THE SNAPSHOTS OF LIFE
(A memoir writing workshop)
Using memories as snapshots, this workshop shows you how to create an album of written images. First the “negative” is produced (first draft), and then it is “developed” and crafted into a story (final draft). This is accomplished using the building blocks of story writing: characterization, dialogue, conflict, and resolution, and by incorporating the components of composition: grammar, usage, mechanics, and style.
In a nurturing atmosphere of participation and constructive critique, this workshop provides you with enough information to begin recording your stories for future generations. Don’t leave your loved ones unacquainted with you. Show them your memories. Write the snapshots of your life.
WRITE THE SNAPSHOTS OF LIFE can be presented as a daylong workshop or a four or five week workshop (each session two hours).
WRITE FOR THE HEALTH OF IT
Research shows writing has positive effects on health and well-being. Writing about stressful situations lowers blood pressure and increases T-cell production, and that boosts the immune system. Whether writing to revisit the past, explore dreams, heal emotional wounds, or establish a spiritual connection, journal writing heals and transforms. Let go of the poisons of your past by writing them out.
Through expressive art and writing exercises, this workshop explores the therapeutic value of writing. Let your journal become a guide, a mirror, a confidant, a friend. Have a conversation with yourself, and discover who you are. Reduce the stress in your life, and write for the health of it.
WRITE FOR THE HEALTH OF IT can be presented as a daylong workshop or a four or five week workshop (each session two hours). A two-hour mini-version is also available.
